The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 has been spotted for the first time and it is a recreation of what is currently one of the oldest pickup trucks in the market. It will be a brand new car that will come with many changes though the details of these are unclear. Here however is what we gathered from the car that was seen testing in the sunny Southern California roads earlier. The car however was almost entirely disguised during the test drive.
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 – Interior and Exterior Design
The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will have the corner bumper steps and 6-lug wheels which are common in GM trucks. The handles on the doors are A-pillar grab handles that are a signature feature of the company.
The lighting also looks absolutely cool with a unique style. In the spy shots that were obtained, it these lights that actually gave this car away and made people know that indeed it is a GMC and not the cousin 2019 Chevrolet Silverado which has been testing before.
The car will have rectangular dual exhaust tips and will have leaf spring suspension type in the rear. This makes it a good option if you would like to drive on rough terrain. Aluminium will be used to make the vehicle parts and hence it will be lighter for better agility and performance.
Not much is known about the interior of the 2019 Sierra 1500. Rumors have it that the new model will come with more luxurious materials than those used in previous generations. The gauges will be redesigned and so will the door’s seal plates.
The infotainment system will be top-notch with the Denali getting GMC’s IntelliLink system that has among other features Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition and navigation. With the LTE and WiFi connectivity, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will come with, users will find it easy to link their cars to their smart devices.
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 – Engine and Performance
The engine specifications are scarce but several options are expected to be availed across different trims. The base engine is likely to be the 3.6-liter DOHC V6 which has been used in the Canyon. The 4.3-liter V6 however could be seen since it produces more torque.
The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will be fitted with the 5.3-liter V8 EcoTec3 engine which is capable of producing 355 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. There will also be an optional 6.8-liter V8 which produces a whopping 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
The exact engines that will be in this car are yet to be specified and so all you can find are speculations. The performance is expected to improve thanks to the use of light materials in making of the car and possible changes in the engines.
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 – Price and Release Date
The prototype has just been released and so there is much more work to be done before the GMC Sierra 1500 2019 can be released. Since the model is named as a 2019 one it can be expected to be released in early 2019 or late 2018 at the earliest. As for the price it is yet to be announced.
